Overview of the Department

The Gerber Cancer Care and Infusion Center provides outpatient Medical Oncology and Infusion Services. Our infusion offerings encompass a range of treatments including antibiotic and blood administration, platelet transfusions, IV therapies, chemotherapy, hydration, injections, and therapeutic phlebotomies. The Registered Nurse collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, comprehensive, and outstanding patient care. Responsibilities include performing telephone triage, administering infusions, coordinating care, and educating patients. About Our Outpatient Clinics

Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics throughout Michigan, offering diverse care options to the communities we serve. With more than 40 types of primary care and specialty practices, our clinics provide opportunities for staff to explore various interests or specialize in specific areas.

Role Responsibilities

The RN delivers nursing care by assessing and prioritizing medical needs as presented through telephone inquiries from patients, families, providers, and others. Ensures timely responses to patients with high-risk conditions. Operating under the ANA scope of practice, the RN employs the nursing process framework to provide professional nursing care, integrating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients. The RN delivers quality care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies and procedures, while recognizing the influence of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on health outcomes. The RN collaborates with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into the care plan and develops educational strategies for patients and families, documenting learning appropriately in health records.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science of Nursing must be obtained within 5 years.
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC required within 90 days.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, with a standard schedule of 36 hours per week.
