About the Unit

The Medical Surgical Unit at Corewell Health comprises 13 beds, including 4 observation beds and 9 inpatient beds. The unit is currently undergoing renovations, featuring new paint, flooring, and artwork throughout the halls and patient rooms, along with an updated nurses' station, breakroom, and staff restroom.

This unit serves our largest patient demographic and is a vital component of our healthcare facility.

Services Offered

We provide telemedicine services in various specialties, including pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound care. Upcoming enhancements include telemedicine palliative care services.

Our facility offers MRI services six days a week, as well as CT scans, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, and medical social work services, all available on-site. A key focus for our team is to maintain high-quality care within the local community.

Scope of Work

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care in a responsible and accountable manner, adhering to the standards set forth by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the State of Michigan. The role requires demonstrating competency through the nursing process, which includes:

  • Assessment
  • Diagnosis
  • Outcomes Identification
  • Planning
  • Implementation
  • Evaluation

Upholding professional performance standards as described by the ANA is essential, including ethical practice, culturally competent care, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality of practice, and resource utilization.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (required)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (required within 5 years)
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within 90 days)
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required within 6 months)
