Sales Category Consultant

The Category Analyst will work closely with the Account Manager and the client's procurement team to deliver sales assistance by performing category evaluations, proposing assortment strategies, recommending business initiatives, and consistently reporting on market dynamics. This role is responsible for producing clear summaries that pinpoint growth prospects for the client's category and overall company revenue.
JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Category Analyst will develop opportunity plans for key clients utilizing syndicated data sources such as IRI and Spectra. This position entails ensuring data integrity, crafting standardized templates for market and consumer insights, and collaborating with Sales Account Executives during the annual sales and marketing strategy formulation. The candidate will track category developments, assess competitive actions, uncover opportunities, and evaluate pricing and promotional tactics. Furthermore, they will aid in the creation and management of plan-o-grams for significant clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Conduct category evaluations for key clients
- Manage essential account responsibilities including POG/assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies
- Engage with clients and internal sales personnel
- Support other sales department members as required
- Execute any additional related tasks as assigned
- Self-driven and committed to achieving outstanding results
- Able to persuade others to endorse crucial initiatives for the organization's advantage
- Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of the business to clients and senior management
- Foresees business opportunities and challenges, steering long-term strategies while concentrating on immediate objectives
- Collaborates efficiently with colleagues across various company departments
- BA/BS Degree required with 2-4 years of successful sales experience or related analytical role
- Military background is a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, particularly in Excel with pivot tables and V Look Up
- Strong data analysis skills to interpret and communicate market and category trends
- Experience with IRI/Nielsen and Spectra syndicated data tools
- Preferably has industry experience in CPG
- Previous experience presenting directly to customers
- Ability to utilize internal databases and sales software efficiently
- Demonstrated success in managing multiple objectives in a fast-paced environment
- Applies sound business principles to projects
- Excellent communication, prioritization, and time management abilities
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
- Knowledge of JDA plan-o-gram is a bonus
- Flexible schedule and willing to travel up to 30-35% of the time
