Position Overview:

Mott MacDonald is in search of a Construction Manager for a significant Heavy Rail Transit initiative. This role involves overseeing on-site supervisory personnel to support construction management functions related to various contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expertise in transit facility construction and manage the administration of construction and design-build contracts.
  • Ensure adherence to construction safety protocols, including injury prevention and emergency response.
  • Facilitate on-site design-build management activities and maintain communication with contractors during the design and construction phases.
  • Act as a representative of the client, administering contract provisions and executing tasks as assigned.
  • Communicate necessary construction techniques and modifications to enhance job safety.
  • Maintain lists of contractor deficiencies, action items, and logs of non-conformance reports, enforcing corrective measures as needed.
  • Coordinate design and construction activities with the design-build contractor, focusing on contractor performance and compliance.
  • Lead various construction meetings, including progress and coordination sessions, and document outcomes effectively.
  • Monitor contractor progress against the approved Project Master Schedule and manage any required adjustments.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports on contractor field progress to the Project Manager.
  • Review compliance with submittal requirements and ensure timely processing of documentation.
  • Assist in addressing community-related concerns and coordinate efforts to minimize construction impacts.
  • Oversee utility contractors and ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability standards.
  • Coordinate survey work and respond to contractor inquiries regarding contract document interpretations.
  • Analyze contractor claims and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Support the processing of contract change orders and modifications, including negotiations.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Approximately 20 years of experience in managing large-scale civil engineering projects.
  • At least 10 years of supervisory experience in major construction contracts.
  • A valid California Class C driver's license.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is preferred.
  • Experience with transit projects involving tunnels, underground stations, and track construction.
  • Ability to obtain Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30-Hour safety certification.
Compensation:

Salary range: $140,000 - $327,000. Benefits include 401k, medical, dental, and vision insurance, short-term and long-term disability, holiday, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, and company-paid life insurance.
