Position Overview:

Mott MacDonald is in search of a qualified Construction Manager for a significant Heavy Rail Transit initiative. The selected candidate will oversee on-site supervisory personnel to support construction management functions associated with various contracts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Possess extensive experience in the construction of transit facilities and adept in managing construction and design-build contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with construction safety protocols, focusing on injury prevention and emergency response.
  • Facilitate on-site design-build management activities and maintain communication with contractors to relay information to the Construction Management team during all project phases.
  • Administer contract provisions while representing the client, executing tasks as directed, including communicating necessary construction techniques to enhance safety.
  • Maintain comprehensive lists of contractor deficiencies, action items, and Non-Conformance Reports, enforcing corrective measures as needed.
  • Coordinate with design-build contractors on all aspects of design and construction, ensuring compliance with contract stipulations.
  • Lead various construction meetings, including weekly progress reviews and design coordination sessions, while documenting outcomes and action items.
  • Monitor contractor progress against the approved Project Master Schedule and adjust plans as necessary to address delays.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports detailing contractor field progress to the Project Manager.
  • Review submittals for compliance, ensuring timely processing and addressing all outstanding issues.
  • Assist in addressing community-related concerns and mitigating construction impacts, in alignment with environmental compliance requirements.
  • Oversee utility contractors and ensure adherence to environmental and sustainability standards, reporting findings to the relevant departments.
  • Facilitate survey work coordination and respond to contractor inquiries regarding contract document interpretations.
  • Analyze contractor claims and change requests, providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Support the Contract Administrator in processing Change Orders and contract modifications, including negotiation assistance.
Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 20 years of experience in Construction Management, particularly with large-scale Heavy Civil Engineering projects.
  • A minimum of 10 years in a supervisory role managing major construction contracts.
  • A valid California Class C driver's license.
  • Professional Engineer registration or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation is preferred.
  • Experience with Transit Projects involving tunnels, underground stations, and track construction.
  • Ability to obtain Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30-Hour safety certification.
Compensation:

Salary Range: $140,000 - $327,000
