Job Summary
Shelby County is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Deputy Court Clerk to provide administrative support to the court system. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of clerical tasks, including preparing court documents, maintaining records, and providing excellent customer service to the public and court officials.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date court records, including docketing and calendaring cases.
- Examine legal documents for adherence to court procedures and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Prepare and post court case folders, files, and documents, and route them to the appropriate parties.
- Provide information and assistance to the public, attorneys, and court officials, and explain court procedures and forms as needed.
- Secure information and contact witnesses, attorneys, and litigants to obtain necessary information for court proceedings.
- Administer oaths to witnesses, attorneys, and litigants, and record minutes of court proceedings.
- Enter court information into computer systems, edit and delete as required, and perform other related duties as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of experience in office operations support, bookkeeping, customer service, data processing, statistical work, and/or other routine clerical duties preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use a personal computer and perform accurate arithmetic computations.
