The Director of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery will lead the strategic development and execution of our business continuity and disaster recovery frameworks.
This role encompasses various sectors including Infrastructure, User Experience, Security and Compliance, and Cloud Engineering.
This position is crucial in managing a team dedicated to ensuring operational continuity during disasters, minimizing downtime, and overseeing recovery efforts. The Director will play a key role in protecting our essential systems and data while maintaining service for our clients and partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate, implement, and sustain policies, procedures, and programs for disaster recovery and business continuity in line with industry standards.
- Provide daily leadership, training, and support to the team and stakeholders regarding disaster recovery and business continuity protocols.
- Supervise disaster recovery drills and enhance strategies to ensure they remain current and effective.
- Coordinate crisis and incident management efforts, including response and communication during and after business interruptions.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify critical business processes and ensure alignment of disaster recovery and business continuity plans with organizational needs.
- Conduct business impact assessments and risk evaluations, identifying potential weaknesses and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and present regular updates to senior management on the status of disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.
- Build relationships with external partners and vendors to support recovery solutions.
- Ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards concerning disaster recovery and business continuity.
General Requirements:
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Adhere to all company policies and standards.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in a similar field is preferred.
- Experience: Over 10 years in IT business continuity and disaster recovery, with at least 7 years in a leadership capacity.
Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated experience in developing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and applications, and their relation to business operations.
- Excellent understanding of risk management and business impact analysis.
- Proven ability to lead teams and effectively manage crises.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, planning, and execution abilities.
- Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple projects independently.
Certifications:
- Certified Business Continuity Planner required upon hire.
- Disaster Recovery Certified Specialist required upon hire.
Travel: Less than 25% with potential for shore-based travel.
