Position Overview

The Trauma Quality Coordinator role at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is a full-time position focused on enhancing the quality of care for trauma patients. This role operates during 8-hour day shifts.

As a verified Level II Trauma Center, Providence Holy Cross is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to critically injured patients around the clock. Our multidisciplinary team, which includes surgeons, emergency physicians, and specialized nurses, is equipped to provide immediate and effective treatment for trauma cases. Our trauma surgeons are dual-certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, ensuring the highest level of expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives for trauma patients by reviewing medical records, analyzing quality indicators, and reporting findings to the Trauma Committee.
  • Develop and implement injury prevention strategies based on local epidemiological data and trauma population needs.
  • Support the Trauma Program Manager and Medical Director in overseeing the Trauma Service Performance Improvement and Patient Safety programs.
  • Conduct clinical data abstraction from trauma patient records to facilitate quality enhancement efforts.
  • Coordinate and deliver educational programs for healthcare professionals involved in trauma care, including EMS and Acute Care teams.
  • Assist in managing trauma care throughout the patient's hospital stay.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • California Registered Nurse License upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
  • Completion of the Trauma Nursing Core Course within 6 months of hire.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in trauma, emergency, or critical care within a healthcare setting.

Preferred:

  • Training in ICD-10 and Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) scoring.
  • Completion of the American Trauma Society Basic Trauma Registrar course.
  • Recent experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Trauma nursing.
  • Familiarity with collector software and the State Trauma Registry.
  • Experience conducting chart audits.
