Position Overview

The Trauma Quality Coordinator role at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is a full-time position focusing on the quality of care provided to trauma patients. This role is essential in ensuring that our Level II Trauma Center maintains the highest standards of care for critically injured individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize clinical expertise to spearhead quality improvement initiatives within the trauma department.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of patient records and quality metrics to identify areas for enhancement.
  • Collaborate with the Trauma Program Manager and Medical Director to oversee the Trauma Service Performance Improvement and Patient Safety programs.
  • Implement injury prevention strategies based on local epidemiological data and trauma population needs.
  • Facilitate trauma education for healthcare professionals involved in trauma care, including emergency medical services and acute care teams.
  • Ensure effective coordination of trauma care throughout the patient's hospital stay.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Active California Registered Nurse License upon hire.
  • Current National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Completion of the Trauma Nursing Core Course within six months of hire.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in trauma, emergency, or critical care nursing.

Preferred:

  • Training in ICD-10 and Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) scoring.
  • Completion of the American Trauma Society Basic Trauma Registrar course.
  • Recent experience in emergency, critical care, or trauma nursing settings.
  • Familiarity with collector software and the State Trauma Registry.
  • Experience conducting chart audits.
