Position Overview

The Trauma Quality Coordinator role at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center involves full-time responsibilities during 8-hour day shifts. This position is pivotal in enhancing the quality of care provided to trauma patients.

As a verified Level II Trauma Center, Providence Holy Cross is dedicated to delivering comprehensive care for critically injured individuals, available around the clock. Our multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, emergency physicians, and nursing professionals, is equipped to provide immediate and effective care to trauma patients. Our trauma surgeons hold dual board certifications in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, ensuring the highest standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives by reviewing patient records and analyzing quality indicators.
  • Develop and implement strategies for injury prevention based on local epidemiological data.
  • Support the Trauma Program Manager and Medical Director in overseeing the Trauma Service Performance Improvement and Patient Safety programs.
  • Conduct clinical data abstraction from trauma patient medical records to facilitate quality enhancement.
  • Coordinate and deliver educational sessions for healthcare providers involved in trauma care, including emergency and acute care teams.
  • Assist in managing trauma care throughout the patient’s hospital stay.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Active California Registered Nurse License upon hire.
  • Current National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Completion of the Trauma Nursing Core Course within six months of hire.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in trauma, emergency, or critical care settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training in ICD-10 and Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) scoring.
  • Completion of the American Trauma Society Basic Trauma Registrar course.
  • Recent experience in Emergency, Critical Care, or Trauma nursing.
  • Familiarity with collector software and the State Trauma Registry.
  • Experience in conducting chart audits.
