Position Overview

The Trauma Quality Coordinator role at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center involves full-time, 8-hour day shifts. This position is integral to our Level II Trauma Center, dedicated to delivering essential resources and care for critically injured patients around the clock.

The Trauma Quality Coordinator utilizes expertise to spearhead enhancement initiatives for the trauma patient population. This includes thorough reviews of patient records, quality metrics, and detailed analysis and reporting to the Trauma Committee. The role also encompasses the development and execution of injury prevention strategies based on local epidemiological data and the specific needs of our trauma demographic.

In collaboration with the Trauma Program Manager and the Trauma Program Medical Director, the coordinator monitors and coordinates all facets of the Trauma Service Performance Improvement and Patient Safety program, as well as the Trauma Injury Prevention program. This position is responsible for clinical data extraction from trauma patients' medical records to facilitate quality improvement efforts. Additionally, the coordinator plays a key role in organizing and delivering trauma education for healthcare professionals involved in trauma care, including emergency medical services and acute care teams.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • California Registered Nurse License upon hire.
  • National Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
  • Completion of the Trauma Nursing Core Course within 6 months of hire.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in trauma, emergency, or critical care within a healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Training in ICD-10 and Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) scoring.
  • Completion of the American Trauma Society Basic Trauma Registrar course.
  • Recent experience in emergency, critical care, or trauma nursing.
  • Familiarity with collector software and the State Trauma Registry.
  • Experience conducting chart audits.
