Term Bioengineering Faculty Opportunity

The Commonwealth of Virginia invites applications for a term bioengineering faculty position in the College of Engineering and Computing at George Mason University. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our faculty and contribute to the growth and development of our bioengineering program.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in bioengineering, including biomechanics, biomaterials, computational biomedicine, physiological modeling, bioinstrumentation, electronics, and imaging.
- Develop and implement curriculum to meet the needs of our students and the industry.
- Conduct research in one or more of our pillars: biomedical imaging and devices, computational biomedicine, biomaterials and nanomedicine, and neurotechnology and computational neuroscience.
- Participate in university, college, and departmental governance, professional and public service, advising students, and performing related instructional assignments.
Applicants must have a PhD in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field. Applicants with an MS in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field will be considered for Instructor positions. A strong commitment to and demonstrated potential excellence in teaching is required. Experience in one or more of our pillars is highly desirable. Applicants at the rank of Associate or Full Professor must have interests in outreach, curriculum development, and significant experience in an academic setting in teaching for at least six years post PhD.
Preferred QualificationsApplicants in all areas of bioengineering/biomedical engineering will be given serious consideration. We are particularly interested in candidates to teach in the areas of biomechanics, biomaterials, computational biomedicine, physiological modeling, bioinstrumentation, electronics, and imaging. Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD, teaching experience, and a record of peer-reviewed publications. Administrative and/or managerial experience is a plus. The department and the Institution place a high value on engaging students from traditionally underrepresented groups, and candidates from these groups are especially encouraged to apply.

As a result, Mason has committed to accelerate its plans to grow its capacity in computing and high-tech fields. Among the university's exciting initiatives are the launch of the Institute for Digital Innovation—a university think tank and incubator to serve the digital economy—and the expansion of Mason Square home to its Arlington facilities. In 2025, Fuse a new 355,000 square foot building, will open to students, faculty, and research teams.
