About the Department:

The Department of Biology is comprised of 14 tenured and tenure-track faculty alongside 14 term faculty dedicated to both undergraduate and graduate education. The department boasts advanced research facilities, including a climate-controlled greenhouse and an extensive herbarium with over 80,000 specimens. With more than 1500 undergraduate majors, the department also employs over 50 Graduate Teaching Assistants and adjunct faculty. Collaborations with faculty from the Department of Environmental Science and Policy, the School of Systems Biology, the School of Integrative Studies, and the STEM Accelerator Program enrich the educational experience through shared courses and research initiatives. The university is recognized for its diversity, with a significant percentage of undergraduates coming from underrepresented groups and first-generation backgrounds.

About the Position:

The role of Professor of Ecology is a term faculty position aimed at attracting a dynamic and innovative educator. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching both introductory and advanced ecology courses and coordinating the multi-section ecology curriculum for Biology majors.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering undergraduate courses and laboratory sessions while providing academic advising to students.

Required Qualifications:

  • A PhD in a relevant field completed by the specified date;
  • A commitment to excellence in both undergraduate and graduate instruction;
  • Proven excellence in teaching methodologies;
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A demonstrated record of teaching excellence;
  • Experience within a university environment;
  • Experience in coordinating Graduate Teaching Assistants.
