About the Role

The Director of Graduate Programs is a key leadership position at Adelphi University, responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of graduate business programs. This includes recruiting, enrollment, student advising, and coordinating graduate student assistantship applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit and engage students for various graduate programs, fostering a strong and diverse community.
  • Develop and implement effective marketing strategies to achieve enrollment goals, leveraging the university's resources and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with university offices and Willumstad staff to prepare and disseminate publicity and marketing materials, ensuring a cohesive brand image.
  • Advise and assist with marketing campaigns, analyzing data to inform decision-making and optimize results.
  • Oversee non-AUI admissions for students, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience.
  • Enroll and advise new and continuing students, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Address student issues and concerns promptly and sensitively, maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Oversee and award select scholarships for graduate students, promoting academic excellence and diversity.
  • Manage the probation process, collaborating with the graduate advisor and academic program directors to ensure student success.
  • Manage the academic misconduct process, working with the department chair, associate dean, and academic standards committee to maintain academic integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with university and school policies, upholding the highest standards of academic and professional conduct.
Leadership and Supervision
  • Foster a strong team culture, promoting positive communication and a healthy work environment through effective leadership.
  • Supervise the graduate advisor, providing coaching and feedback to ensure student success and advisor effectiveness.
  • Oversee the work of the Graduate Assistant (GA) coordinator, ensuring efficient and effective support for graduate students.
  • Cultivate and manage a broad spectrum of internal and external working relationships, promoting collaboration and partnerships.
Requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a highly diverse student and faculty body.
  • Detail-oriented and able to organize and prioritize work demands, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Competency with using spreadsheet and course management tools, leveraging technology to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Able to effectively plan, delegate, and/or supervise the work of others, promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently and accurately in a busy work environment, maintaining a high level of productivity and focus.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess situations, obtain appropriate information, and make sound judgment and independent decisions.
  • Able to work on weekends, evenings, and off-campus, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Able and willing to understand, interpret, and apply policies, taking executive decisions to ensure compliance and best practices.
  • Familiar with graduate business programs, with a deep understanding of the academic and professional landscape.
  • Creative and outgoing, with a passion for promoting academic excellence and student success.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative without constant supervision, taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Strong commitment to customer service, with a focus on delivering exceptional support and experience to students and stakeholders.
