  • The Cardiac Catheterization Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in assisting physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures aimed at diagnosing and treating heart ailments.
  • These specialized nurses typically operate within hospital settings or outpatient facilities.
  • After procedures, they are responsible for administering medications and monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or signs of infection.
  • This position reports directly to the Unit Supervisor or Medical Director.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and prepare patients for cardiac interventions, including monitoring vital signs, reviewing laboratory results, and ensuring informed consent is obtained.
  • Support physicians during heart catheterizations, angioplasties, pacemaker placements, and other cardiac procedures.
  • During procedures, monitor and document patients' vital signs, being prepared to act swiftly in case of emergencies.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all cardiac equipment utilized in catheterization, as well as in EKG interpretation and recognition of critical cardiac rhythms.
  • Administer IV medications as needed and provide patients with reassurance and information regarding their procedures and recovery.
  • Engage with patients and their families to educate them about the procedures and address any concerns, while also communicating patient needs to the medical team.
  • Notify physicians of any changes in the patient's condition promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in patient records.
  • Ensure that all necessary supplies, including medications and emergency equipment, are adequately stocked and organized.
Qualifications:
  • Current RN license in good standing.
  • A minimum of one year of recent experience in a Cath Lab setting.
  • Active certifications in AHA BLS and ACLS are required; TNCC certification is preferred.
