JOB SUMMARY

The Retail Operations Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in the planning and execution of meetings and special events. This position is responsible for implementing departmental strategies and ensuring a seamless transition from sales to operations and back to sales as necessary. The individual will lead the team to achieve and surpass daily and weekly objectives, including sales targets, attendance metrics, guest satisfaction levels, and safety standards.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED; 2 years of experience in hospitality, event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or a related professional field.

OR

• 2-year degree from an accredited institution in hospitality or a related discipline; 1 year of experience in hospitality, event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or a comparable professional area.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Assisting in Managing Meetings and Special Events Operations and Budgets

• Guides the team to achieve and exceed daily and weekly objectives, including sales, attendance, guest satisfaction, and safety.

• Conducts research and analysis on new products, pricing, and services offered by competitors.

• Aids in informing the property of all groups that will influence property operations.

• Supports the execution of event management strategies that align with the company’s business objectives.

• Performs daily inspections of the banquet area to promote client satisfaction and uphold quality standards.

• Learns, operates, and trains staff on software systems utilized in events such as ticketing, retail, inventory, and space management.

Managing Profitability

• Assists in cultivating relationships with external vendors and establishing pricing and service agreements to enhance the event experience and create additional revenue opportunities.

• Identifies opportunities to upsell during the event planning process.

• Aids in managing departmental controllable expenses to meet or exceed budgetary goals.

• Oversees merchandise inventory as needed, improving displays to boost sales.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

• Fosters an environment in all event management operations that meets or exceeds guest expectations.

• Sets a positive example for guest relations.

• Engages with guests to gather feedback on product quality and service levels.

• Addresses and resolves guest issues and complaints.

• Empowers team members to deliver outstanding customer service.

• Ensures employees understand expectations and guidelines.

• Strives for continuous improvement in service performance.

• Emphasizes guest satisfaction in all departmental meetings.

Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities

• Conducts interviews, selects, and trains new employees.

• Evaluates employee productivity and efficiency for potential promotions or other status changes.

• Ensures the safety and security of employees and property.

• Monitors employee attendance and records absences and tardiness.

• Assists supervisors in achieving their development goals.

• Conducts annual performance evaluations with direct reports in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
