Role Overview:

The Surgery Coordinator plays a crucial role in the surgical department by:

  • Engaging with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless communication.
  • Managing phone inquiries and scheduling appointments, procedures, and surgeries both over the phone and in person.
  • Ensuring that the requirements of patients, physicians, and the practice are fulfilled efficiently and professionally.
  • Overseeing financial clearances for surgical procedures, including precertifications and service coordination.
  • Handling administrative duties such as compiling surgical volume statistics, maintaining calendars for physicians, and optimizing the operating room schedule to enhance productivity.
  • Providing support to clinical assistants when needed, provided the necessary qualifications are met.


Qualifications:

  • A foundational level of knowledge typically gained in the first year of college or through technical/business training.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, with a proven track record of working effectively with diverse individuals.
  • A solid understanding of customer service principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other relevant software applications.
  • Prior experience as a Medical/Clinical Assistant is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is strongly preferred.
