At Maine Medical Center, we are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Care Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in PA studies from an ARC-PA accredited PA program and have a minimum of two years PA experience.

The Surgical Care Specialist will be responsible for providing surgical assist and inpatient rounding for General Surgery and Gynecology patients. This includes postoperative care and medical management services consistent with the standard of care provided by the supervising physicians.

The successful candidate will work closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient care. They will also be responsible for maintaining confidentiality and supporting initiatives that promote high-quality healthcare services.

Key qualifications include:

  • Master's degree in PA studies from an ARC-PA accredited PA program
  • Current state license in good standing
  • DEA certificate with prescribing privileges
  • Certified Surgical First Assist
  • BLS certification
  • Minimum of two years PA experience

The Surgical Care Specialist will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with and educate patients and families of all ages in a user-friendly manner. They will also have strong computer skills and the ability to use an electronic medical record.
