Job Overview

CO-OP Restaurant & Lounge is on the lookout for a Sous Chef who is passionate about culinary arts and eager to enhance their expertise in a guest-focused dining atmosphere. In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Chef, overseeing daily kitchen operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality culinary offerings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all kitchen activities, including food preparation and production, while managing and training kitchen personnel.
  • Ensure that kitchen operations are efficient and cost-effective, contributing to the profitability of food services.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain all cooking and preparation equipment to uphold cleanliness and functionality.
  • Guarantee that food quality, presentation, and plating meet the highest standards and are served promptly.
  • Act as the Executive Chef in their absence, ensuring continuity in kitchen leadership.
  • Maintain rigorous standards for food preparation, presentation, and execution.
  • Monitor food storage, rotation, and sanitation practices to comply with health standards.
  • Enforce sanitary practices among all kitchen staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; formal culinary training or an associate degree in culinary arts preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a fine dining or upscale casual setting.
  • Food Handler certification is required.
  • Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of a second language is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all hotel departments.
  • Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods in an indoor environment.
