Position: Culinary Services Unit Supervisor

COMHAR is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing health and human services, empowering individuals and communities to achieve healthier, self-sufficient lives.

We are currently seeking a Culinary Services Unit Supervisor. This role is pivotal in overseeing all activities related to the food service operations within our community clubhouse. The responsibilities will be executed by the members of the Culinary Services Unit, collaborating closely with clubhouse staff. The Culinary Services Unit Supervisor is tasked with supporting individuals with serious and persistent mental health challenges in reaching their highest level of independent functioning.

Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (occasional holiday hours may be required)

Compensation: $18.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities of the Culinary Services Unit Supervisor:

  • Facilitates daily unit meetings to allow clubhouse members to discuss and volunteer for tasks within the Culinary Services Unit.
  • Collaborates with members and staff to plan, organize, and execute the Work Ordered Day (WOD); encourages member participation and provides necessary support.
  • Engages in the clubhouse social and recreational programs as scheduled.
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety standards as mandated by the clubhouse and regulatory bodies; prioritizes member safety and the security of clubhouse assets.
  • Manages the food coupon account and oversees all expenditures; involves members in shopping activities and assists with daily financial transactions related to the Open Door Café.
  • Prepares daily breakfast and lunch for clubhouse members, including special occasion meals.
  • Provides on-site job coaching to members.
  • Maintains accurate documentation for Culinary Services Unit members, including progress reports.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by the Director.
  • Participates in training sessions and clubhouse events as directed by the supervisor.

Qualifications for the Culinary Services Unit Supervisor:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals facing mental health challenges.
  • Experience in food preparation.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • ServSafe Certification (or must obtain within 60 days of hire).
  • Proof of COVID vaccination (boosters not required).
