Job Title: Logistics Operations Leader

Department: Supply Chain Management

Reports to: Operations Director

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for overseeing the comprehensive supply chain functions including Demand Forecasting, Procurement, Inventory Management, and Distribution. Evaluates and enforces policies aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction. Collaborates with production, warehousing, procurement, and distribution teams to fulfill operational goals. Keeps upper management informed about daily operations and offers strategic recommendations for improvement.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Facilitates effective operational planning and execution under the guidance of the Operations Director.
  • Assists the management team in establishing both short-term and long-term operational objectives.
  • Provides constructive feedback and recommendations for performance enhancement.
  • Contributes to the formulation of departmental procedures ensuring alignment with overarching company strategies.
  • Engages in budgetary planning for all operational expenditures.
  • Drafts justification letters for departmental financial requests as necessary.
  • Leads assigned personnel, ensuring peak performance through clear goal-setting, delegation, and communication.
  • Mentors and trains employees on their roles and operational methodologies.
  • Offers insights to boost productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Conducts performance evaluations as needed.
  • Participates in staffing decisions including recruitment, terminations, compensation, and promotions.
  • Ensures effective execution of production planning tasks, developing accurate forecasts and schedules.
  • Coordinates the procurement of raw materials to align with production timelines.
  • Maintains optimal inventory levels to meet client demands.
  • Implements inventory rotation strategies to minimize waste.
  • Delivers daily production activity reports to management.
  • Prepares analytical reports to assist in financial planning and budgetary assessments.
  • Oversees the management of dry goods and supply inventories, ensuring timely availability of materials.
  • Ensures compliance with safety and quality standards in inventory management.
  • Implements effective warehouse policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to operational standards.
  • Recommends equipment acquisitions and capital improvements.
  • Assists in the development of warehouse operational policies.
  • Ensures efficient processing of shipments and deliveries.
  • Addresses issues related to damaged goods, incorrect orders, and missing items promptly.
  • Maintains proper storage and rotation of warehouse materials.
  • Ensures warehouse operations comply with established safety regulations and procedures.
  • Fosters professional relationships with vendors, suppliers, and logistics partners.
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external stakeholders.
  • Ensures effective coordination of external logistics services with internal operations.
  • Promotes a positive company image and goodwill.
  • Maintains effective communication and collaboration with all personnel.
  • Implements and oversees reporting mechanisms for operational areas.
  • Provides support to warehouse, receiving, and production teams.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or 8 years of operational management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • SQF and GMP certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of demand planning processes and demand forecasting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) for data analysis.
  • Understanding of HR policies and employment regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of raw materials and finished goods.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management systems.
  • Experience with safety systems and enforcement of safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and coaching abilities.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills.
  • Proficient in English; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • ACTIVITIES: Standing, walking, bending, lifting, stooping, crouching, kneeling intermittently.
  • HEARING: Ability to hear average conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • REPETITIVE MOTION: Frequent use of wrists, hands, and fingers.
  • VISUAL ABILITIES: Average visual acuity necessary for document preparation and machinery operation.
  • PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Typical office environment with no hazardous conditions, alongside a food processing area that may be wet, damp, and cold.
