Position Overview

This role entails delivering engineering and consulting expertise for clients nationwide. The primary focus will be collaborating with the team to develop electrical, instrumentation, and control components for pipeline facility design outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in projects of varying scales, from minor utility regulator station enhancements to extensive metering, regulation, or compressor station initiatives.
  • Electrical Engineering Tasks:
    - Design AC & DC power systems, including one-line schematics, wiring diagrams, area classification drawings, grounding layouts, and lighting plans.
    - Conduct essential calculations such as short circuit analysis, cable sizing, voltage drop assessments, and conduit fill determinations.
  • Specify and design electrical equipment, including 15kV and 5kV gear, motor control centers, transformers, uninterrupted power supplies (UPS), and power distribution centers (PDCs).
  • Perform electrical systems analysis, including load flow, short circuit, arc-flash, and protective relaying calculations.
  • Instrumentation & Controls Responsibilities:
    - Collaborate on the development of P&IDs, system control philosophies, and alarm setpoints.
    - Create network diagrams, instrument location plans, input/output (I/O) lists, control narratives, and instrument datasheets.
  • Design and specify programmable logic controllers (PLCs), remote terminal units (RTUs), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
  • General Assignments:
    - Contribute to proposal preparation and scope development.
    - Generate engineering/project cost estimates and timelines.
    - Conduct initial site assessments to gather necessary EI&C information for deliverables.
  • Develop conceptual designs and execution strategies while fostering strong relationships with clients and vendors to ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Assurance processes and strive for continuous improvement in processes, tools, and standards.
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
  • Offer short-term field support during construction phases and assist in business development and marketing efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (a master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience).
  • Professional Engineer registration is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in ETAP and/or SKM software.
  • Experience in electrical, instrumentation, and control engineering for pipeline facilities, including natural gas metering and regulating stations.
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial standards and codes such as AGA, API, PIP ISO, NFPA, NEC, and IEEE.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and a methodical approach to quantitative problem-solving.
  • Attention to detail, along with strong facilitation, team-building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in risk management reviews (HAZOP, SIL).
- Familiarity with Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Building Management Systems (BMS).
