POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Designer plays a crucial role in the Engineering Department, undertaking intricate design tasks and serving as a technical authority, responsible for the formulation and advancement of innovative engineering and design solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes Engineering Standards for the procurement and installation of EI&C equipment.
  • Defines project parameters by setting objectives, selecting technical approaches, and offering technical support to various business units.
  • Plans projects by drafting specifications, creating timelines, and identifying enhancements to existing processes.
  • Supervises the execution of EI&C Capital Projects.
  • Develops project scopes, budgets, and approval requests, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and compliance with refinery and safety regulations.
  • Implements projects by tracking performance, executing corrective measures, and providing feedback to project teams, including the generation and revision of operational procedures and regular reporting.
  • Addresses technical challenges related to projects and updates reporting data for business units.
  • Enhances, designs, configures, maintains, and monitors relevant equipment and its performance.
  • Analyzes components, systems, processes, and refinery economics.
  • Maintains the integrity and accuracy of business unit data.
  • Designs EI&C equipment for chemical plants and develops processes for chemical manufacturing.
  • Conducts research to innovate and improve process control methodologies.
  • Designs and organizes EI&C layouts for commercial applications.
  • Determines optimal configurations for Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls, including Safety Instrumented Systems and Power Distribution Equipment.
  • Investigates and resolves issues related to work-in-progress.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

A minimum of eight years of progressive experience in electrical, instrumentation, and controls is essential, with a focus on controls engineering and power distribution.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND:

Experience in the refinery or petrochemical sector is advantageous.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience is mandatory.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

Project management capabilities are critical. A solid understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply this knowledge analytically is required. Staying updated with technological advancements and processes is essential. The candidate should be a technical expert in their specialty and possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Advanced proficiency in reading, writing, and performing complex mathematical calculations is necessary.
