Audubon Companies is actively looking for a Senior Instrumentation Engineering Specialist to become a part of our dynamic team. This role involves executing advanced instrument engineering tasks related to the design of various equipment, components, and systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop detailed specifications for project assignments that outline client performance criteria, specific component requirements, design standards, and vendor documentation needs.
  • Create engineering sketches, conduct calculations, and build analytical models for intricate project tasks. Review vendor drawings to ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other consultants.
  • Establish realistic project expectations and ensure timely completion within budget constraints.
  • Follow company quality protocols and engineering verification processes.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, security, and environmental standards set by the company and clients, as well as applicable regulations.
  • Participate in hazard identification programs and report any unsafe conditions to supervisors. Collaborate with the drafting/design team to create and review engineering drawings.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and conditions.
  • Inspect vendor facilities to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions and bid evaluations related to equipment procurement. Verify engineering drawings and calculations.
  • Focus on safe design practices while identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Manage workload, budgets, and project resources effectively, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Develop and review engineering design packages, both conceptual and detailed.
  • Contribute to the creation of internal design guidelines and specifications.
  • Evaluate project feasibility by analyzing materials, costs, and timelines, applying engineering principles and advanced mathematics.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of reports, specifications, plans, and construction schedules.
  • Analyze various strategies and applications to ensure the correct procedures are utilized and resolve design issues.
  • Foster client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business.
  • Compile discipline-specific man-hour estimates and total installed cost estimates based on project scope provided by clients. Manage and forecast man-hour requirements and schedules.
  • May lead medium to large-scale multi-discipline projects, overseeing daily workflow and delegating tasks as needed.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors regarding team performance and address any work-related issues.
  • Offer guidance on best practices and technical expertise to colleagues.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is mandatory.
  • Degree from an ABET Accredited Institution is preferred.
  • Preferred degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification is advantageous.
  • Field experience is desirable.
  • A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Experience leading medium to large multi-discipline projects is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), Control Valve Sizing, Meter Sizing, and Relief Valve Sizing software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of instrumented control and safety systems design is preferred.
  • Understanding of instrument and electrical design codes (ISA, NEC, API, etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to make informed decisions and solve problems effectively.
  • Proactive approach to addressing work-related challenges.
  • Strong comprehension skills and ability to seek clarification when needed.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to organize and direct projects to successful completion.
