We are looking for a Biological Systems Leader to oversee the effective functioning of our advanced production facility. This pivotal role is essential for maintaining the biological vitality and operational excellence of our mycelium-based manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess significant expertise in industrial fungal operations, with a deep understanding of fungal biology, environmental assessment, sterile techniques, and data analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the management of biological systems, focusing on the enhancement of biological processes.
  • Monitor and ensure the biological integrity of the facility by assessing environmental conditions and implementing sterile practices.
  • Oversee sanitation protocols to uphold a sterile production environment.
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for biological operations.
  • Design and implement data tracking and reporting systems to evaluate biological performance and pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on biological health to management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Leader to align biological management with overall operational strategies.
  • Coordinate training initiatives for new hires and ongoing education for current staff on best practices in fungal biology and sterile techniques.
  • Mentor and manage team members, fostering professional development and high performance.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of biological systems to ensure compliance with both internal and external standards.
  • Investigate and resolve biological challenges, implementing corrective measures as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in industrial fungal operations, with a robust understanding of fungal biology.
  • Experience in manufacturing, collaborating closely with plant operations teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in environmental monitoring, sterile practices, and sanitation protocols.
  • Proficient in data monitoring and reporting, with a capacity for data analysis and improvement implementation.
  • Technical knowledge of laboratory equipment and bioprocessing technologies.
  • Familiarity with bioreactor operations and fermentation methodologies.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to manage and cultivate a team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Occasional walking and dexterity required for handling materials.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
