Position Overview

Summary

The Telecommunications Outside Plant Engineer will oversee the comprehensive design of all civil components within the telecommunications infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and layout of telecommunication infrastructure elements in line with established network design standards. This involves determining the optimal route corridor and specifying the necessary construction methods (e.g., aerial, underground, open trench, directional boring, plowing, etc.).
  • Conduct a right-of-way and route evaluation to ensure the proposed corridor is viable and can be constructed in a cost-effective manner.
  • Perform site assessments to gather data on surface features and underground utilities, essential for preparing construction drawings that meet local jurisdiction requirements for permit acquisition.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least three (3) years of project engineering design experience, including 1 to 2 years focused on telecommunications network design, or a minimum of nine (9) years of relevant work experience in telecommunication network/infrastructure design with one (1) year in Outside Plant (OSP) design.
  • Eligibility to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship.
  • Experience with Fiber to the Home (FTTH) projects.
  • Proficiency in Fiber Optic technologies (cable, splicing, and testing).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in desktop automation tools (Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Make Ready Engineering.
  • Familiarity with GIS, 3GIS, and CAD software.
