About the Role

MaineHealth, a leading healthcare system in Maine and New Hampshire, is seeking a highly skilled Leadership Philanthropy Officer to join its team. This key position is focused on building and maintaining relationships with high-level donors and securing significant philanthropic support for the organization's strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Fundraising: Develop and implement effective strategies to secure leadership gifts in support of MaineHealth's initiatives, including medical education, biomedical research, and patient-centric care.
  2. Donor Engagement: Foster strong relationships with existing and prospective donors, understanding their interests and goals to tailor approaches and secure meaningful support.
  3. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with clinical and administrative leadership, as well as development colleagues, to ensure alignment and effective communication of MaineHealth's mission and vision.
  4. Grant Writing and Research: Conduct research and write grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and other external sources.
  5. Reporting and Analysis: Provide regular reports on fundraising progress, analyzing data to inform strategies and optimize results.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree and/or CFRE or CAP certification preferred.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of development experience, preferably in a healthcare or academic medical center setting, with a proven track record of securing significant gifts.
  • Skills: Excellent written and oral communication, relationship-building, and project management skills; ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
