LAUNCH SYSTEMS MECHANICAL ENGINEER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and evaluate mechanical systems for launch facilities, recovery operations, and manufacturing tools.
  • Exhibit comprehensive project ownership from inception to completion, overseeing the construction, testing, and activation of the hardware you engineer.
  • Collaborate closely with launch operations teams and their leadership to ensure that the products we provide meet the required specifications, functionality, and aesthetic standards.
  • Utilize your technical expertise to demonstrate proficiency in fundamental structural sizing, mechanisms, and design, while making informed development decisions based on budgetary and scheduling considerations.
  • Present cost and schedule trade-off proposals to management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field.
  • At least 1 year of professional experience utilizing design software or equivalent experience with relevant tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a professional environment focused on designing, analyzing, or constructing mechanical structures.
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Experience in project management within the aerospace, industrial, or energy sectors.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment, engaging daily with technicians, engineers, and management.
  • Enthusiasm for hands-on tasks when necessary to ensure project success.
  • Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, parts lists, and specifications.
  • Proactive, self-motivated individual with the capability to lead projects through to completion.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel to various company locations as required.
  • Work schedule may vary based on operational needs, requiring flexibility.
  • Physical capabilities include lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying as necessary to perform job functions.
  • Ability to pass a background check as required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Salary range:
Mechanical Engineer/Level I: $95,000 - $115,000 per year
Mechanical Engineer/Level II: $110,000 - $130,000 per year

Your specific level and base salary will be determined on an individual basis and may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one component of your overall rewards package. You may also qualify for long-term incentives, company stock options, or cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the opportunity to purchase additional stock at a discount. Paid vacation and eligibility for paid holidays are part of the package, along with sick leave for exempt employees.
