Position Overview
The Global Process Engineering Specialist will collaborate closely with the Global Process Engineering Leader within the Gas Value Stream, with a primary emphasis on Conventional Machining technologies, particularly in broaching and grinding.

Key Responsibilities
This role serves as a central point for:

  • New product launches
  • Part and technology transfers
  • Introduction of new processes
  • Strategic investments in processes and equipment

Responsibilities include managing lead times, selecting appropriate technologies, and making recommendations regarding tooling, fixturing, programming, quality plans, and qualifications for initial production sets.

Cost Management
The Specialist will focus on cost reduction by standardizing equipment and processes, establishing operational standards, and ensuring compliance with these standards.

Leadership and Influence
This position will involve coaching and influencing a dotted-line organization, which includes factory technical leads across the supply chain. Leveraging analytical skills and lean methodologies is critical to drive SQDC in alignment with business objectives.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise and significant exposure to manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, and safe process development.

Essential Skills
Key skills required for this role include:

  • Defining and controlling production processes, including tooling and equipment
  • Validating design specifications and their application on the shop floor
  • Influencing strategy development for the area of responsibility
  • Interpreting business challenges and recommending best practices

In addition, the Specialist will lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements and complexity, effectively communicating complex concepts and influencing stakeholder perspectives.

Additional Responsibilities
Co-lead the implementation of manufacturing systems that support global supply chain migration across the Gas Turbine Value Stream, utilizing advanced systems such as Vimana and Leading to Lean.

Engagement in Methodologies
Engage in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodologies, including measuring machine capabilities, analyzing process requirements, and developing strategies to enhance process yield.

Lean Principles Deployment
Implement lean principles, including Transformation Planning, 3P (Production Preparation Process), Total Productive Maintenance, Standard Work, Kaizen, Problem Solving, and Poka Yoke.

Education and Experience
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 7 years of industrial experience in broaching and grinding, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 9 years of relevant experience is required.

Desired Characteristics
Functional expertise in conventional machining technologies such as milling, turning, broaching, grinding, EDM, and FHD is preferred. Experience in tooling, part fixturing, and CNC machine design is also desirable.

Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively identify and solve problems.
