The Role

This executive-level position reports directly to the President and encompasses comprehensive oversight of the Construction Department. The successful candidate will lead, mentor, and manage all construction personnel, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, within budgetary constraints, and adhere to the highest quality standards. The role requires regular site visits to monitor project progress and compliance with regulations. Ideal candidates will possess extensive experience in construction management, particularly in the development of multi-family housing communities.

  • Engage actively in executive meetings, sharing insights and updates regarding construction initiatives and departmental performance.
  • Encourage a collaborative atmosphere within the executive team to ensure cohesive support across all divisions, maximizing the advantages of a vertically integrated organization.

Leadership & Management Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the Construction Department.
  • Represent the Construction Department in executive discussions and report on project developments.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.

Training and Development:

  • Oversee ongoing professional development for the construction team, ensuring access to the latest training and industry standards.
  • Create succession plans to maintain leadership continuity within the department.

Risk Management:

  • Conduct regular assessments of potential risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Enhance the quality of contracts, forms, and standard exhibits.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractor resolutions for optimal outcomes.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations across all projects.
  • Promote and uphold a culture of safety within the Construction Department.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and regulatory updates.

Performance Metrics:

  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the performance of construction projects and the department.
  • Provide regular updates to the President and executive team regarding project statuses, departmental performance, and strategic initiatives.

Reporting:

  • Deliver consistent updates to the President and executive team on project progress, departmental performance, and strategic goals.
