Job Summary

The Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of bills to customers based on service contract terms. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including customer account management, billing process optimization, and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of Casella Resource Solutions' operations, including lines of business, customer base, equipment, division structure, and services offered.
  • Process sales adjustments and billing transactions within the billing systems, ensuring efficient and accurate billing processes.
  • Audit weight tickets for the current month prior to month-end close to ensure accurate billing.
  • Maintain on-time monthly invoicing for all assigned customer accounts.
  • Reconcile rebate accounts associated with assigned customers/vendors monthly to make necessary corrections.
  • Run billing reporting as needed and assist the Collection department and finance team with special project assignments.
  • Maintain monthly reporting requirements for customer-specific reporting.
  • Complete monthly customer-level profit and loss spreadsheets after billing conclusion at month-end.
  • Participate in training and other learning opportunities to expand knowledge of the company, products, sales, and services.

  • Billing Specialist I: Demonstrates the ability to complete basic billing data entry, non-complex report formatting, and understanding of operations.
  • Billing Specialist II: Demonstrates the ability to complete accurate, more complex reports, complicated rebate transactions, and detailed weight tickets.
  • Billing Specialist Sr.: Demonstrates the ability to complete analysis of account billing, understanding of pricing, volume, and vendor changes, and leadership skills.

Education, Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, 1-2 years of business experience with increasing responsibilities, and demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.

The ability to work under pressure, high attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel, and excellent verbal, written, analytical, and formal presentation skills are required.
