Position Overview:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Patient Access Specialist I is responsible for accurately identifying and registering patients within the hospital's information system. This role ensures that all demographic, insurance, and clinical information is complete, facilitating precise records and timely billing for patients receiving care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Efficiently manage the registration process for patients in various service areas, including Outpatient Services, Offsite Laboratories, Specimen Collection Center, and Emergency Department.
2. Coordinate all aspects of scheduling same-day appointments, tests, and exams while providing exceptional reception services and managing patient flow to support Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging services or Emergency Department care.
Minimum Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience:
Relevant experience in customer service, proficiency in using computerized information systems, and previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
- Strong customer service skills
- Professional demeanor
- Flexibility to accommodate varying scheduling needs
- Basic understanding of medical terminology is preferred
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows desktop applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with a diverse patient population
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly
- General office skills.
Compensation:
Pay Range: $25.41
