Position Overview

The Patient Accounts Specialist is accountable for the precise and prompt preparation, submission, and follow-up of claims directed to third-party payers, intermediaries, and patients. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient collection of patient accounts to sustain a healthy cash flow. The specialist will address inquiries in a timely manner, adhering to established hospital protocols.

Educational Requirements

An Associate's Degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience is required.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of 2 years of experience in patient accounting is necessary, including at least one year of experience with electronic billing systems. Familiarity with medical posting, billing processes, and patient account service, along with problem-solving capabilities, is essential.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

• Comprehensive understanding of hospital billing methodologies.

• Familiarity with healthcare payers, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and electronic remittance processing.

• Strong customer service orientation.

• Exceptional attention to detail.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with team members.

• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

• Knowledge of medical terminology.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

• Demonstrated moderate proficiency in basic computer skills.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $25.91 per hour.
