Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at United Way of Tarrant County. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the general ledger, financial reporting, accounting procedures, reconciliations, grant reporting support, and preparing all records as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare general ledger journal entries monthly and respond to management inquiries regarding actual expenses.
  • Review accounting calculations and transactions for appropriateness, including payroll and benefit records, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budget, fixed assets, and other areas as needed.
  • Assist with preparation of organization and departmental budgets, supporting schedules for informational returns, audit schedules, and 1099 preparations.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and prepare reconciliations for asset and liability accounts.
  • Process fixed assets and maintain financial records of assigned grants in compliance with Uniform Guidance.
  • Keep organized and accurate accounting records and serve as the back-up person for other functions in the Finance department.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum three years professional accounting experience required. A Bachelor level degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and familiarity with general ledgers, chart of accounts, budget preparation, and grants management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and financial accounting systems.
  • Government grant compliance training and ability to monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, strong organizational abilities, analytical and communication skills, and high level of interpersonal skills.
  • Team player with collaboration and time management skills, and excellent customer service orientation.
