Department Overview:
The Institute for Health Disparities (IHD) is dedicated to advancing research, training, and community outreach focused on minority health and health disparities. The IHD encompasses several initiatives, including the Texas Center for Health Disparities and the National Research Mentoring Network.

Role Summary:
The Senior Budget Analyst will collaborate closely with the Vice President and Executive Director of IHD, along with various financial and administrative teams across the university system. This role is pivotal in delivering effective research administration services to IHD stakeholders. The position is based at the UNT Health Science Center and reports directly to Dr. Jamboor Vishwanatha, Regents Professor and Vice President.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Understanding of research-related OMB Circulars, Uniform Guidance, and cost-sharing regulations.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles (GAAP, GASB, CASB) and internal control measures.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
  • Proficiency in report writing tools, such as SQL and Summit dashboard.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, along with five years of direct experience in sponsored research accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage finances for the AIM-AHEAD project, including oversight of grant and contract funding.
  • Oversee the processing of sub-contract invoices for sponsored projects and resolve any accounting discrepancies.
  • Investigate cost-effective solutions and best practices in operations and services.
  • Prepare annual budgets and forecast five-year budget projections for all grants and projects.
  • Review and approve reimbursement requests, procurement actions, and personnel actions related to sponsored research projects.
  • Compile and submit financial reports for sponsors, including detailed analyses of project budgets and expenditures.
  • Process journal entries for various financial transactions and ensure compliance with funding regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
