Position Summary

The engineering division at Simpson Strong-Tie is dedicated to providing educational resources, services, and support to both internal teams and external clients through innovative approaches.

This role involves serving as a technical authority for internal and external stakeholders, including specifiers, building officials, and contractors, within the Southwest U.S. region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver technical support to clients and sales teams through effective verbal and written communication (25%).
  • Collaborate with outside sales to cultivate relationships, offer technical assistance, present findings, conduct site visits, and evaluate product installations (25%).
  • Create and present educational content on building code provisions and practical design applications using Simpson products to various audiences (20%).
  • Develop and review technical literature such as catalogs and bulletins to highlight product advantages and technical information (15%).
  • Engage with industry associations by attending meetings, participating in committees, and contributing to technical publications (10%).
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by management (5%).
Qualifications

Education: A licensed Professional Civil or Structural Engineer is required, with a preference for CA & SE licensure. A B.S. degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering is mandatory.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of relevant structural consulting experience, including design expertise in light-framed wood, steel, and concrete structures.

Skills: Practical knowledge of construction materials and design methodologies is essential. Familiarity with connectors and lateral system product lines is advantageous.

Communication: Strong verbal communication skills are necessary for effective presentations to diverse audiences.

Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required, along with experience in AutoCAD and other relevant software.

Work Environment

This position operates within a professional office setting, utilizing standard office equipment. Occasional travel may be required.
