Position Overview

The engineering division at Simpson Strong-Tie is dedicated to offering education, services, and support to both internal and external stakeholders through innovative approaches.

This role involves serving as a technical authority for clients and partners in the Southwest U.S., focusing on regions such as Southern California, Las Vegas, Arizona, New Mexico, and Hawaii.

The Structural Engineer (Branch Engineer) will engage with various stakeholders, including specifiers, building officials, and contractors, to provide expert guidance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering technical assistance to clients and sales teams through effective communication (25%)
  • Collaborating with outside sales to build relationships, offer technical support, and conduct site visits (25%)
  • Creating and presenting educational content on building codes and practical design using our products (20%)
  • Developing and reviewing technical literature, including catalogs and bulletins (15%)
  • Participating in industry associations and contributing to technical discussions (10%)
  • Completing additional tasks as assigned by management (5%)

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Licensed Professional Civil or Structural Engineer (required, CA & SE preferred)
  • B.S. degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering (required)
  • 3+ years of relevant structural consulting experience
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials and design methodologies
  • Familiarity with connectors and lateral system product lines

Physical Requirements

This role may require occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs and involves standard office tasks.


Travel Requirements

Domestic travel may be necessary, up to 15% of the time.
