Job Responsibilities:

The University of Saint Joseph is seeking qualified candidates to serve as temporary adjunct faculty within the Office of Clinical Practice, part of the Education Department. Ideal candidates should possess teaching experience in Connecticut, hold relevant teaching certifications, and have experience supervising teacher candidates or in-service educators. The Education Department seeks individuals with a minimum of a Master’s degree in Education and an active teaching certificate.

Openings are available for teaching the student teaching supervisory course, which will be conducted weekly in the evening. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the course, observing student teachers using remote supervision software, evaluating instructional practices with provided rubrics, offering constructive feedback, and coaching for improvement.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing and/or updating course syllabi
  • Preparing lectures, assignments, assessments, and other course materials
  • Timely grading of all student submissions
  • Providing constructive feedback to enhance academic and teaching success
  • Maintaining scheduled office hours; adjunct faculty must be available for at least one additional hour weekly, either in-person or virtually, to support students
  • Participating in program and departmental meetings as required
  • Demonstrating knowledge of contemporary teaching methods for college-level courses and delivering clear instruction related to the course content
  • Utilizing technology provided by the University to enhance teaching, including platforms like Blackboard and TEAMS
  • Completing training in the CPAST assessment system, with materials provided by the University
  • Meeting all scheduled class periods as outlined in the academic calendar
  • Submitting mid-semester and final grades to the Registrar's Office within designated timeframes and ensuring all course records are provided to the department chair upon course completion
  • Building positive relationships with students and faculty to foster an environment conducive to student success

Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in the field of Education is essential
  • A terminal degree in Education is preferred
  • Degrees must be obtained from accredited institutions
  • Current, active Connecticut teaching certificate(s) are required
  • Current, active Connecticut 092 and/or 093 certificates are preferred
  • Strong technological skills are necessary
  • Experience in virtual teaching formats is required
  • Familiarity with EdTPA is preferred
  • Cultural competency to engage with a diverse student population and K-12 school communities is essential
  • Commitment to the mission of the University of Saint Joseph is required

  • Teaching assignments are part-time and based on semester needs, contingent upon student enrollment.

Compensation:

  • Non-Terminal Degree/0-6 Credits Experience = $3,000.00
  • Terminal Degree/0-6 Credits Experience = $3,200.00
  • Non-Terminal Degree/7+ Credits Experience = $3,400.00
  • Terminal Degree/7+ Credits Experience = $3,700.00
