Job Responsibilities:

The University of Saint Joseph is seeking qualified candidates to take on the role of adjunct faculty within the Criminal Justice and Restorative Justice Program. Ideal candidates should possess teaching experience in the field of Criminal Justice. The program requires candidates to hold at least a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related discipline.

Currently, there is an opportunity to instruct the following course:

CRMJ 245 60: Police in the Community: This course investigates the evolving relationship between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve, examining the historical, social, and political contexts of police-community interactions while focusing on strategies to enhance mutual trust and collaboration. The course will be conducted in a hybrid format, with in-person sessions scheduled weekly.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Creating and/or revising a course syllabus.
  • Preparing lectures, assignments, assessments, and other course materials.
  • Timely grading of student submissions and providing constructive feedback to support academic achievement.
  • Maintaining regular office hours; adjunct faculty must be available for at least one additional hour weekly, either in-person or virtually, to assist students.
  • Participating in program or departmental meetings as needed.
  • Exhibiting knowledge of contemporary teaching methodologies for college-level courses and delivering clear, qualified instruction relevant to the course content.
  • Utilizing technology available at the University to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  • Ensuring attendance at all scheduled class sessions as outlined in the academic calendar.
  • Submitting mid-semester and final grades to the Registrar's Office within the specified timeframes and providing all course records to the department chair upon course completion.
  • Fostering positive relationships with students and faculty to promote a supportive learning environment.


Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree or higher in Criminal Justice or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred qualifications include industry experience, a terminal degree, and/or prior teaching experience at the college level.
  • Cultural competency to effectively engage with a diverse student and employee population.
  • Alignment with the mission of the University of Saint Joseph.


Additional Information:

Teaching positions are part-time and assigned on a semester basis, contingent upon student enrollment and departmental needs. All adjunct offers depend on sufficient enrollment. Regular attendance is a crucial aspect of this role, reflecting reliability in fulfilling job responsibilities.

Compensation:

  • Non-Terminal Degree/0-6 Credits Experience = $3,000.00
  • Terminal Degree/0-6 Credits Experience = $3,200.00
  • Non-Terminal Degree/7+ Credits Experience = $3,400.00
  • Terminal Degree/7+ Credits Experience = $3,700.00
