Role Description:
The University of Saint Joseph is seeking qualified candidates to join our team as part-time adjunct faculty in the Cultures, Arts, and Literatures (CAL) Department. We are currently looking for adjunct instructors to teach courses in the Digital Media and Communication program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 3 credits of instructional time with students.
- Develop lectures, projects, assignments, and assessments that align with the course syllabus.
- Evaluate student submissions promptly and provide constructive feedback to enhance academic performance.
- Maintain regular office hours, ensuring availability for student support.
- Participate in departmental meetings as required.
- Exhibit proficiency in contemporary teaching methodologies for higher education.
- Utilize available technology to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
- Adhere to the academic calendar by attending all scheduled class sessions.
- Submit mid-semester and final grades within the designated timeframes and ensure all course records are provided to the department chair upon course completion.
- Foster a supportive learning environment conducive to student success.
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree or higher in Communication or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required for teaching undergraduate courses.
- Previous teaching experience is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated cultural competency in working with a diverse student and employee population.
- Alignment with the mission of the University of Saint Joseph.
- Ability to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Additional Information:
- Teaching positions are part-time and contingent upon student enrollment and departmental needs.
- Courses may be offered in various formats, including in-person and online, at different times throughout the week.
- Regular attendance is crucial as it reflects reliability in fulfilling job responsibilities.
Compensation:
- Non-Terminal Degree & 0-6 credits experience = $2,900
- Terminal Degree & 0-6 credits experience = $3,100
