Position Responsibilities:

The University of Saint Joseph invites qualified candidates to apply for the role of temporary adjunct faculty within the Office of Clinical Practice, part of the Education Department. Ideal candidates should possess teaching experience in Connecticut, hold relevant teaching certifications, and have experience supervising teacher candidates or in-service educators. The Education Department seeks candidates with a minimum of a Master’s degree in Education and an active teaching certificate.

Openings are available for teaching the student teaching supervisory course, which will convene weekly in the evening. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and/or updating course syllabi
  • Preparing lectures, assignments, and assessments
  • Grading student submissions promptly
  • Providing constructive feedback to enhance academic and teaching success
  • Maintaining scheduled office hours for student support
  • Participating in program and department meetings as needed
  • Demonstrating expertise in current teaching methodologies for higher education
  • Utilizing technology effectively for course delivery
  • Completing training in the CPAST assessment system
  • Meeting all scheduled class sessions as per the academic calendar
  • Submitting grades to the Registrar's Office within specified timelines
  • Building positive relationships with students and faculty to foster a supportive learning environment

Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in the field of Education
  • Preferred terminal degree in Education
  • Degrees must be from accredited institutions
  • Current, active Connecticut teaching certificate(s) required
  • Preferred current, active CT 092 and/or 093 certificate
  • Strong technology skills are essential
  • Experience with virtual teaching formats required
  • Preferred experience with EdTPA
  • Cultural competency to engage with diverse student and K-12 populations
  • Commitment to the mission of the University of Saint Joseph

Compensation:

Adjunct faculty positions are part-time and contingent upon student enrollment and departmental needs. Compensation varies based on qualifications and experience.
