Responsibilities will include administrative tasks, client engagement, and case management under the guidance of a Managing Frontline Attorney.

This position promises to be both challenging and fulfilling for those who are passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of others. We are looking for individuals who are adaptable, inquisitive, and possess strong problem-solving skills. A commitment to our organizational values—teamwork, resilience, compassion, and innovation—is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold our mission of providing free legal representation for all viable civil legal claims, aiming to alleviate poverty.
  • Develop a foundational understanding of the various legal areas we cover, enabling you to assist with emergency intakes and provide essential legal information.
  • Support the team with administrative and advocacy tasks, including individualized client case support and drafting correspondence.
  • Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed legal services while maintaining a focus on self-care.
  • Engage with clients from diverse backgrounds, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and awareness of the challenges they face in accessing legal services.
  • Be present in the office for four days a week to facilitate in-person client interactions and ensure effective service delivery.
  • Manage timely and accurate filings and assist with court-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of an associate's degree or equivalent experience; a paralegal certificate is required for paralegal designation.
  • Ability to commute to the office regularly to meet team needs.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in technology and cloud-based systems, including case management tools.
  • A genuine passion for working with low-income clients and an understanding of the trauma they may have experienced.
  • Demonstrated cultural humility and sensitivity to the barriers faced by low-income individuals in the justice system.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Embody our core values of teamwork, resilience, compassion, and innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish or Cantonese, with the ability to translate legal information.
  • Previous experience in a legal support role or client advocacy.
  • Familiarity with court procedures and experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Experience in a high-volume legal aid environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Generous paid time off and flexible work hours.
  • Support for professional development and growth opportunities.
  • A collaborative and supportive organizational culture.
