Court Clerk Assistant

Position Overview
This role involves performing clerical duties related to court operations under close supervision within designated courtrooms.
Compensation Level: 41H
Essential Qualifications
100% -1. A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in clerical, bookkeeping, data management, or statistical roles; AND
2. A high school diploma or equivalent GED; OR
3. One (1) year of relevant clerical, bookkeeping, data management, or statistical experience along with one (1) year of college coursework (30 semester hours or 36 quarter hours).
4. VALIDATION OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS MANDATORY.
Key Responsibilities
1. Organizes the docket or schedule of cases to be addressed in the assigned courtroom.
2. Reviews legal documents submitted to ensure compliance with court or legal protocols.
3. Assembles court case files; posts, files, and routes necessary documents.
4. Clarifies procedures or forms to individuals requesting assistance.
5. Gathers and provides information for judges, liaises with witnesses, attorneys, and litigants to secure necessary details for court, and instructs parties on their court appearances.
6. Administers oaths to witnesses, attorneys, and litigants.
7. Takes minutes of court proceedings and prepares documentation accordingly.
8. Records case outcomes, court orders, and manages the collection of court fees.
9. Inputs various court-related information into the computer system; edits and deletes entries as required.
10. Performs additional related tasks as needed or directed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Required KSAs -1. Familiarity with various legal documents issued by the court.
2. Capability to maintain a systematic record-keeping and filing system.
3. Proficiency in collaborating with court officials.
4. Competence in utilizing personal computers.
5. Ability to write clearly on legal documents and court files.
6. Strong communication and organizational skills.
7. Aptitude for performing precise mathematical calculations.
