Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgery Coordinator to join our team at Keck Medicine of USC. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling all aspects of patient surgeries for ophthalmologists in a multispecialty group practice setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Surgical Coordination
    • Obtain and document patient information, including insurance verification and pre-authorizations
    • Request deposits from patients for clinic visits and surgeries
    • Counsel and set-up payment schedules with patients, when necessary
  • Scheduling and Administrative Support
    • Coordinate and schedule patient surgeries, including pre-operative testing and post-operative visits
    • Provide administrative support, including collecting patient payments and performing insurance verification
    • Schedule follow-up appointments and/or ancillary testing
  • Communication and Customer Service
    • Interact with patients, doctors, and staff to provide excellent customer service
    • Respond to requests and resolve patient issues in a timely manner
Requirements
  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience
    • 2 years of experience in a medical admission setting
    • 2 years of experience in an ophthalmology practice setting
  • Skills
    • Knowledge of insurance and medical billing/authorization guidelines
    • Strong insurance verification and pre-registration background
    • Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and diseases, as it applies to the eye
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience
    • 1 year of experience with an electronic medical record (EMR)
    • 2 years of experience working in a medical teaching institution
  • Certifications
    • BLS Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association
Hourly Rate Range

$41.99 per hour
