The Physician Practice Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the physician and clinical staff in delivering high-quality patient care. This position is responsible for performing a range of administrative tasks to maintain a smooth and efficient front and back office workflow.
Key Responsibilities- Performs surgery scheduling, including verifying insurance, scheduling pre- and post-operative appointments, and acquiring health clearances and authorizations.
- Manages physician referral work queues, completing referrals in Epic corresponding to PPC tasks.
- Coordinates patient care with medical assistants, imaging department, outside facilities, and other physician practices.
- Acts as a liaison between physician and patients, communicating surgery concerns and providing surgical scheduling information, resource coordination, and support.
- Develops and coordinates materials for patients pre- and post-surgery, including health education materials and correspondence.
- Provides support to physician with outside services, including professional teams, teaching, and speaking engagements.
- Manages and coordinates logistics of care for VIPs and patients with special needs.
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three years of experience working with a large medical group practice, with surgery scheduling experience in a high-volume call setting.
- Proficient in insurance protocols and knowledge of HMO, PPO, and POS plans.
- Experience working with worker's compensation carriers and understanding of the WC cycle and protocols.
