Independence Plus is seeking a highly skilled Patient Services Representative to join our team in Oak Brook, IL. As a Patient Services Representative, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and coordination for Home Medical Equipment (HME) clients, payers, and referral sources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Excellent Patient Services: Ensure that patients receive timely and effective support for their medical equipment needs.
  • Order Intake and Verification: Process orders via phone and fax, verify insurance coverage, and confirm orders.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for new patients, including completion of CMNs and prior approvals.
  • Communication and Coordination: Establish and maintain open communication with payers, referral sources, patients, and administrative staff to ensure seamless coordination of care.
  • File Maintenance and Reporting: Ensure that all files are maintained according to IPI policies and report any discrepancies to the immediate supervisor.
  • Staying Informed: Stay up-to-date on changes in billing guidelines for all payer sources and share information with relevant IPI personnel.
  • Process Improvement: Research and recommend improvements in general procedures to streamline processes and minimize unnecessary expenses.
  • Purchasing and Receiving: Perform purchasing and receiving duties as needed.
  • Referral Development: Promote home health, home nursing, and respiratory/HME referrals in the healthcare community.
  • Compliance: Comply with agency, state, federal, and CHAP policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree: Preferred or industry experience.
  • HME Billing Experience: Including insurance verification and data entry skills.
  • Computer Skills: Excellent working knowledge of computer applications, word processing, spreadsheet, email, and other software programs as needed for assisting in medical billing.
  • Medical Coding: Familiarity with medical coding.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Demonstrates good communication and teamwork skills both within and outside the department.
