POSITION SUMMARY

Michael Baker International is in search of a skilled and driven Associate Program Manager to become a vital part of our organization. The selected individual will serve as the Associate Program Manager for a substantial Risk MAP Production and Technical Services (PTS) contract. This role offers significant potential for rapid career advancement. We are looking for a candidate with outstanding leadership, management, and communication abilities to oversee the execution of a diverse array of technical projects carried out by multi-disciplinary teams across various locations. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role within the Emergency Management and Response division of our organization.

This position can be fully remote for the right individual.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate closely with the Program Director to manage and guide a large-scale federal initiative.
  • Foster and maintain client relationships to ensure satisfaction, acting as a strategic ally to clients.
  • Work with the contract leadership team to define the strategic vision for the contract.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to address challenges; mentor and manage the team at an advanced level.
  • Direct and coordinate the efforts of multi-disciplinary personnel to guarantee project delivery on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with scope parameters.
  • Collaborate with team members and clients to assemble and oversee teams that create scopes, schedules, budgets, assumptions, and constraints for projects.
  • Ensure compliance with project plans and established business processes, as well as project management standards.
  • Proactively identify and strategize around project risks and challenges.
  • Maintain accountability for the accuracy and completeness of project status reports and invoices.
  • Promote team cohesion and professional development while providing mentorship to staff.
  • Cultivate and manage client relationships, guiding the application of services to best meet the needs of the client and Michael Baker International.
  • Assist in business development and proposal initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with contract obligations, including quality and security standards.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (engineering preferred).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience working with FEMA's Risk MAP Program (required), demonstrating knowledge of FEMA's Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) program, FEMA's Guidelines and Standards for Flood Risk Analysis and Mapping Activities Under the Risk MAP Program, and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Exceptional communication skills, proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to thrive in a dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery with a focus on quality and financial excellence.
  • Leadership experience related to proposals for an IDIQ contract.
  • Demonstrated skills in team building and mentoring.
  • Willingness and ability to lead a matrixed team to achieve program objectives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong work ethic and a commitment to being a leader within the company and the professional community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM).
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, as needed (less than 20%).
  • Proficiency in both traditional and agile project management methodologies.
  • Active involvement in industry associations (e.g., Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM), Project Management Institute (PMI)).
