Director Of Intellectual Disability (ID) Residential Services

An Overview

The Director of ID Residential Services has direct oversight of the ID/DD Group Homes ID Residential and Supported Living Programs as well as the direct supervision of the Assistant Residential Coordinator. These programs serve individuals diagnosed with an Intellectual disability (ID). Through supervision of subordinate staff, the Director of ID Residential Services is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, staffing and regulatory compliance of client care of all of the ID residential sites. The Director of ID Residential Services provides supervision, guidance, assistance and training to staff within all facets of the residential programs.

What You Should Bring

The ideal candidate should have thorough knowledge of intellectual disabilities and mental illness and the principles of universal enhancements, positive behavioral supports; thorough knowledge of City, State, and Federal and policies and procedures, thorough knowledge of the ID Medicaid Waiver, regulations, rules and license requirements for program operations or the ability to acquire such knowledge; ability to assist in developing and implementing program policies, procedures, and plans; ability to provide supervision, guidance, assistance, and training to residential services staff; ability to implement and monitor Federal, State, CARF and Departmental standards for quality assurance compliance; ability to establish and maintain complete client records; good knowledge of best practice standards in residential services for adults with in intellectual disability; ability to plan and supervise the work of others; ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Individuals must have excellent organizational skills and ability to handle and keep track of multiple projects. Individuals must have knowledge of current trends in the field of ID residential services.

The Opportunity
Evaluates staff training needs and coordinates staff training.Assists in the development of policies and procedures for ID residential services.Assists in the development of program goals and objectives for ID residential services.Interprets and applies Federal, State and City Regulations and Medicaid WaiverRepresents the ID Residential Services Program to the community.Provides direct supervision to senior residential counselors and the assistant residential coordinator.Ensures that group homes, apartment facilities and records meet CARF, licensure and Medicaid and any other applicable standards.Conducts announced and unannounced home and apartment inspections & Available for on-call 24/7 Conducts ID Residential screening committee meetingsReviews time sheets for subordinate staff and monitors overtime use in all programs.Participates in clinical treatment team meetings concerning residents in homes and apartments.Performs related work as required.
About the Department

The Center for Adult Services (CAS) provides programs and services in Aging; Adult Protective Services; Clinical & Emergency Services; and Community & Residential Support Services for seniors and for persons with mental illness, intellectual disabilities and substance use disorders. CAS provides compassionate and effective person-centered services based on best practices. Our teams support self-determination, safety and recovery for Alexandria residents affected by abuse, neglect, mental illness, intellectual disabilities and substance abuse disorders.

Minimum & Additional Requirements

Four-Year College Degree in public administration, psychology, special education, rehabilitation education, social work, behavioral management or related human service field; three years of professional experience in public administration, including supervisory experience in program operations for individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or mental health issues; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

A considerable amount of supervisory experience in residential program service provision for individuals with a diagnosed intellectual disability; valid driver's license issued by state of residence.

This position requires the successful completion of pre-employment background checks including but not limited to: FBI/Federal Records Check; VA State Child Abuse/Neglect Registry; Medicare/Medicaid Fraud Database; education/certifications; and driver's license.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM, On-Call.
