Job Summary

The City of College Park is seeking a highly skilled and organized Executive Assistant to Mayor to provide administrative support to the Mayor and City Council. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in office practices, methods, equipment, and standard clerical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide administrative support to the Mayor and City Council, including scheduling meetings, handling phone calls, and maintaining complex records.
• Greet and direct visitors to the appropriate department, and receive, open, and date-stamp mail for the department director.
• Operate a computer to produce confidential reports, correspondence, and other documents from rough draft, written copy, oral instructions, and/or dictating machine.
• File and retrieve materials and data from department computerized and manual filing systems, and maintain the department's filing system.
• Attend City meetings and functions as required by the Mayor and City Council, and complete special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or two (2) years of college coursework required, with a Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative work, with some experience in the public sector preferred.
• Considerable experience in working with the general public, strong organizational and communication skills, and experience in communicating with diverse communities.
• Ability to learn, understand, and apply the concepts, practices, and procedures of the department, and to pay close attention to details and multitask.
• Must be able to use tact and courtesy in dealing with the public, and to analyze and evaluate procedures and work processes and to exercise appropriate judgment in establishing priorities and work methods.
