POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Engineer is tasked with the design of aerospace valves and components, as well as supervising the assembly and validation testing of newly developed products. This role involves providing technical support to customers regarding a variety of Ausco products, whether they are new or established, and assisting in long-term customer programs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze customer specifications and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with Principal Engineers or the Chief Engineer to create detailed proposals.
  • Design aerospace valves and components in accordance with customer specifications.
  • Generate 3D models and 2D manufacturing and assembly drawings.
  • Conduct various engineering calculations, analyses, and report writing.
  • Utilize simulation software such as ANSYS FEA and CFD, Mathcad, etc., for engineering simulations.
  • Facilitate internal and external design reviews.
  • Coordinate engineering modifications with customers and across the organization.
  • Supervise the assembly and testing of developmental hardware.
  • Develop acceptance and qualification test plans, analyzing test data to validate new products.
  • Oversee qualification testing for valves and components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project tasks are completed within established timelines.
  • Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks, communicating findings to management.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and formulate corrective actions.
  • Assist the engineering department in implementing design changes and enhancing technical documents and standard procedures.
  • Maintain professional and technical expertise by participating in educational workshops and industry conferences.
  • Propose and implement process improvement initiatives within Engineering. Contribute innovative ideas.
  • Effectively manage and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and quality standards.
  • Enhance customer relationships, striving to earn and maintain their trust throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.
  • Comply with company and aerospace industry standards, methods, and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science (or Professional Engineer Certificate) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of engineering experience.
  • At least 4 years of design experience in valves, pumps, actuators, pressure vessels, hydromechanical components, or precision hydraulic components.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing projects that involve product development, support, validation testing, and customer deliverables.
  • Strong project management and organizational capabilities, with the ability to facilitate team interactions.
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet development timelines.
  • A commitment to continuous learning about new technologies and their implications for customer applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex engineering concepts in accessible language.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Experienced in using simulation software, such as ANSYS.
  • Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
